Focus of the project
My project focuses on philosophical and ethical issues related to health monitoring. I analyze which underlying conception of health underlies the way health-related behavior is assessed and subsequently intervened upon, and to what extent these coincide with how users understand health. Furthermore, I investigate how monitoring technologies shape the way health and health-related behavior is understood both by users and developers, and how these re-shape the relationship between caregivers and caretakers.
Key research questions
What kind of reality is constituted in the relation between targeted individuals and tracking technologies, and to what extent does this reality coincide with the goals and aims of health promotion?
What is the role of health within the reality constituted in relation between individuals and tracking technologies, and what does it mean to take responsibility for one’s health in this context?
